Discoveries — FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Discoveries: why something keeps showing up in Pending, what happens when you map, how to restore, and how automatic filters behave.

Why does a person I already mapped keep appearing in Pending?

That person probably uses more than one identifier in the same system. Common example: in GitHub some commits go in under their username (paulinaoberti) and others under their personal email ([email protected]) when the username is empty. Each identifier is a separate "Pending" until you map it.

If the emails match, Leanmote automatically collapses them with a +N variants badge — one Map covers every variant. If the identifiers are completely different (e.g. a GitHub handle vs. a personal Gmail), you have to map them one by one the first time.

What happens to historical data when I map someone?

Leanmote reprocesses all of that person's past activity (commits, PRs, comments, assigned tasks, calendar events) and re-attributes it to the internal user. It's automatic — nothing else for you to do.

Why don't I see Slackbot or deactivated Slack users?

They're filtered automatically. If for some reason you need to map a specific bot, contact support.

How do I restore something I ignored by mistake?

Switch the state filter to Ignored, find the row, click Restore. It returns to Pending.

Why don't some external calendar contacts show up as pending people?

Leanmote filters Google Calendar attendees and creators so only people with an email from your org's domain (e.g. @leanmote.com) or with a generic Google email (@gmail.com, @googlemail.com) reach Pending. Clients and vendors with external domains don't enter — they'd be noise with no mapping value.

The Map panel suggestions look weird sometimes — are they useful?

The suggestions algorithm is intentionally fuzzy: it surfaces any plausible match (email, similar name, similar handle) and you decide which one to confirm. When a suggestion carries a higher false-positive risk (e.g. different email domain), it appears with the ⚠ different domain tag and the card turns light gray so you can tell it apart from clean matches.

What exactly does "Ignore" do on Slack channels?

It marks the channel as sticky-ignored: the Slack extractor respects that decision forever. Even if someone else "discovers" it from different credentials, it won't return to Pending until you restore it.

Can I cancel a manual Discover run that's in progress?

Not directly. Wait a few minutes — it finishes on its own (10-minute timeout) and then you can try again.

Who can see and operate Discoveries?

Only users with the Admin or Owner role. The link doesn't appear in the sidebar for other roles, and the direct URL returns 403.
